Many firms call themselves "logistics" companies. Logistics companies tend to narrowly focus on the individual shipment be it a rail carload, truckload, pipe batch, or a courier package. This is of little use to anyone's business and does nothing for proactive management.
Altex is not one of these companies. We are a service delivery company. We focus on the broad picture with a goal of keeping the entire "pipeline" flowing consistently. We take a system approach by working with producers, truckers, rail carriers and even other terminals. We proactively manage your business.
Our shippers depend on Altex to deliver their oil from the well head right to the destination market and to ensure their nominations are filled by the suppliers and that the oil flows to destination markets. It's about making a transparent system which consistently delivers on our shippers' contractual requirements.
We look at how all elements of the pipeline are performing and proactively make necessary adjustments to keep the entire pipeline flowing as smoothly as possible. While many "logistics" companies trace a shipment to determine where it is, we do not. We look at where all of your oil is and whether your contracts are being fulfilled.
Our Service Delivery Team is the key to making all of this happen. We have a highly skilled team that manages the entire pipeline from the wellhead to destination. Our shippers have an assigned Service Delivery Representative who gets to know you and the specifics of your business. They prepare the daily reports we send to you, manage your rail car fleet, and communicate with the railways, and destination terminals all to keep your business flowing in our pipeline. Your Service Delivery Representative is supported by our field staff who are also a part of the Service Delivery Team. Together they work as a tight team to ensure your oil is flowing smoothly in our pipeline.
Altex field staff arranges delivery of oil from your suppliers right from the wellhead to our terminals. We perform a full custody transfer when the oil is transferred into and out of our terminal according to local government regulations.
Production accouting information is tracked in our iGoRail enterprise management computer system and is used by us to report to the relevant government agencies and registries on your behalf for royalty purposes.
If you prefer, we can electronically file to Canada and US customs using Jori International, CN Customs or your preferred customs broker. We file the proforma invoice to ensure that your shipments clear the border without a costly incident. Our shippers perform a monthly reconciliation with the actual invoice which keeps the producer/shipper transactions confidential.
Altex has partnered with CN to build the fastest most efficient pipeline system. CN is the premier rail carrier in North America with unparalleled reach and service. CN's and Altex models are complementary. Both believe in a full cycle pipeline system approach. We work closely with CN holding daily calls with CN's pipeline management group.
CN's Productivity Pipeline Model delivers superior on time performance. Coupled with Altex' management processes, in many cases, we achieve cycle times that are as fast as other carrier's unit train services. In all cases, direct CN-Altex routes deliver superior performance.
All of Altex's originating terminals are on CN for these reasons.
Nothing is more important to us than safety. Safety of our employees, the people in the communities we operate, the people of the communities through which our shipper's oil travels and those people unloading the oil at destination.
Our safety approach starts with quality assurance. All of our sites have a lab on site. We test the oil for hydrogen sulphide (H2S), flash point, basic sediment and water (BSW).
Every truck load that comes into our terminal is tested for H2S. If the load exceeds the terminal's tolerance the load is rejected. Our field Service Delivery teams ensures these rules are strictly followed.
We also check the incoming oil and regularly test our tanks for flash point. This is important as many destination terminals are not equipped to handle low flash point oil. Should low flash point oil get into tanks not equipped to handle it, a serious tank failure could occur.
Although it is not dangerous to have water in the oil, we test all of the incoming oil to our shippers specifications.
Our field Service Delivery Team ensures the oil meets your quality specifications and it is safe for everyone along the pipeline path.
Altex continues to improve our processes to provide better information to our shippers. Our new state-of-the-art terminal at Lashburn, SK employs the newest metering and truck tracking systems. Already low truck terminal dwell times will even get lower thus reducing costs for producers and shippers. Stay tuned as we further develop and integrate our systems to provide unmatched service to our shippers.
